The Glenlivet Distilling Company is rolling out with a new single malt Scotch whisky: The Glenlivet Nadurra. It’s a small batch whisky that’s aged for 16 years, non chill-filtered, and bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.2% abv. That’s 114.4 proof whisky! You’re supposed to add water splash by splash until it’s around 80 proof, but who does that? (People more sophisticated than college students, that’s who.)
Here are the tasting notes from the brochure I got in the mail today:
Nose: A medley of floral and sweet spice aromas enhanced by gentle notes of toasted oak
Taste: Smooth and silky, the taste is memorable yet never overpowering to the palate, with the sweetness of soft fruits, honeyed flowers and layers of vanilla
Finish: A dry, oak finish to savor with notes of ginger and hazelnuts
It just came out this month, and should be available now. At $60 a bottle, though, I think I’ll stick with Southern Comfort until I start earning a living wage.
