Things That Go Boom In The Night

While walking up Church Street to the Science Center at 1 AM, I heard repeated popping noises that vaguely resembled gunshots. Was this a drive-by shooting? Or a celebration of flammable chemicals?

After the initial instinct to flatten myself on the sidewalk, I headed towards the noise and found a group of kids setting off fireworks on Foss Hill. This happens about once a month, usually after midnight. The moral of the story: if you hear “bang bang bang bang” followed by cheers, assume the best and check out Foss Hill. And when the P-Safety cars arrive, get the hell out of there.
