Okay, apparently fewer people than I thought knew about this.
If your ID gets demagnetized, bent, cracked or otherwise fucked up, you don’t have to pay to get a new one. As long as you give them your old ID with a good excuse, they’ll make you a new one free of charge. If it’s lost, though, the first time costs $25 to replace it and $30 each time after.
wohhh there’s something very wrong here. i have been charged twice for a cracked card, and another time they told me that they can’t remagnetize cards because mine got demagnetized.

Also, if it’s just demagnetized, you don’t need a new one at all. They can remagnetize it for you.

First floor of North College. Just follow the signs to the WesCard Office.

I’ve had two cracked cards and one that was ripped right in half, and every time the replacement has been free.

Then apparently the people in the WesCard Office are spewing some disinformation. Last year, my card cracked and wouldn’t open the WestCo doors anymore. I took it to the office and they replaced it for free, but the woman warned me that any future replacements would be $30.
