Planes

Travel a lot? Want to go home or visit friends over break, but don’t want to cough up hundreds for the plane ticket? Fly for super cheap:

AirTran has announced the return of its X-Fares for 2006, the airlines’ popular standby ticket program for young people. With X-Fares, travelers ages 18 to 22 are eligible to fly standby on AirTran flights from $69 one-way.

It may be standby, but if you have a flexible schedule, you can’t beat the price.

Failing that, Farecast gives you predictions as to when the cheapest times to buy plane tickets will be. It only works in major cities at the moment, but it looks promising. Part of my brain screams “PHRENOLOGY!,” though.
