This November is Latino Awareness Month, and we’ll be posting events weekly (or as they get sent to us. Thanks, Kaishi Lee ’09!)

Here’s what’s on the menu for this week:

“Social Activism in Latin America & the Diaspora: Culture Representation, Struggle and Power”

Come kick off Latino Awareness Month, as we have a freshman, senior, and alumni speaker talk about their expectations, reflections, and hopes for the Latino community at Wesleyan.

“Walkout” (an HBO film)
A stirring true story of the Chicano students of East LA, who in 1968 staged several dramatic walkouts in their high schools to protest academic prejudice and dire school conditions. Sponsored by the Dean for Diversity and Academic Advancement

“El Dia de Los Trabajadores” (Worker Appreciation Day)
Come join us as we celebrate and thank Wesleyan workers for their complete dedication and hard work. There will be music, food, games, etc. Get to know these wonderful people and spend a day relaxing and having fun.
