Beta Webmail

ITS Rogue Sysadmin says:

ITS is opening up a new “Beta Webmail” that has a number of new features and plugins that we are hoping to test as well as get some feedback on. Since students use Webmail more frequently than other members of the University, we’re especially interested in getting feedback from the
student body. The more people test and give us feedback, the sooner these features can be rolled into Webmail and the door opened for further enhancements.

The Beta Webmail is accessible at:

https://webmail.wesleyan.edu:7780/

Just login with your normal credentials and have fun – do keep in mind that it it *is* your actual email, though. If you cleverly delete every email in Beta Webmail or setup a filter to do so, your mail will be gone. We do keep backups, but there is a limit to what we can restore, so be
careful.

For a list of the features added in, mosey on over (and yes, moseying is specifically recommended) to:

http://www.wesleyan.edu/its/email/beta_webmail.html

I’ve been using these for months now without a problem and some of them are quite handy, so give ’em a shot – the Filters one (students and recent alum only) is especially nifty if a little rough around the edges in some places.

Feel free to send feedback or questions about the “Beta Webmail” to beta_webmail(at)wesleyan.edu. And seriously, don’t be shy about the emails, I get like a hundred a day so a few more aren’t going to be the cause of any vexation on my part, though I can occasionally be slow to answer.

Do remember it’s a Beta though, so some oddities are to be expected.

Rogue SysAdmin – heh. Please keep in mind I’m just one sysadmin; I just happen to be louder and more obnoxious than the others (call it a talent) – they’re busy holding things together as well.

Oops! Just to clarify, since I sent the email off in a hurry, that’s totally an unofficial announcement from just one member of ITS; tis not representative of an official ITS announcement which would be far more professional and some junk. Trust me, ITS would *never* give a stamp of official sanction to anything I said.Signed,Guy sorta in charge of Webmail-ish.
