James L. Sherley, an Associate Professor of Biological Engineering at MIT, is threatening to go on a hunger strike after being denied tenure from the university. He feels that the decision was largely based on racism (Sherley is an African American).
He stated in a letter to MIT faculty:
“I will either see the Provost resign and my hard-earned tenure granted at MIT, or I will die defiantly right outside his office. This is the strength of my conviction that racism in American [sic] must end. What better place to kill a small part of it than at a great institution like MIT.”
If his demands are not met, the hunger strike will begin on February 5.
more likely to be his position on stem cells than his race

sounds whack to me, and where’s the evidence of racism? if this were substantiated, I might be pissed, but this is just off the wall C-R-A-Z-Y
