Q: How many vegans does it take to change a lightbulb?A: None, vegans can’t change anything.a joke, courtesy of a friend. Because I have no sense of humor. I am a mindless slave of the meat eating machine.

Aside from being ethically indefensible, ecologically catastrophic, and physically unhealthy, the VDS would like to use the above post as incontrovertible evidence that eating meat also destroys your sense of humor along with any sense of irony. Moreover, the issues of our name, our stances on violence, and lots of other fun topics will be covered in the Vegan Deth Squad Tract of Rage, soon to be available at a hypocritical liberal arts institution near you.Until Next Time,-VDS

VDS you are hypocrites and a walking joke. Your threats make me sick. Eating meat is not and will never be an activity deserving discrimination. You WILL NOT enslave the entire population of this unversity, famed for its diversity, to your radical views that don’t necessarily agree with ours. I eat meat almost daily. This is not because I agree with admittedly disgusting factory farming practices, but for many societal and personal reasons including the simple fact that a moderate amount of meat in one’s diet is actually healthy. Human beings are omnivorous by nature. You sound ignorant and narrow minded. What about all of the cultures in which meat eating and preparation are culturally significant? HOW DARE YOU IMPOSE YOUR VALUES ON THIS UNIVERSITY! This sort of half informed fundamentalism and overreaction to a simple barbeque shows how out of touch with the outside world some students here are. Let us eat our meat, and we’ll let you eat grass and acorns or whatever. By the way, do you see the absurdity of using “death squad” in your name? It is a terrible joke, and suggests that you value the life of a cow over that of a fellow student. Congratulations.

since when have laws been just? as for the violence issue, if you didn’t pick up on the not-so-subtle irony please realize that the VDS is having a laugh at your expense. personally i think executions should only be reserved for upper level animal exploiters, but the stances taken by VDS particants vary widely. none of this is relevant though, because as policy we only use non-lethal water-based projectile weapons. we have been trafficking them for years on the wesleyan black market and are fully prepared to extinguish any and all instances of flesh-burning. many will heed our call to super soakers.-VDS

This is nothing like blowing up an abortion clinic; if we were to suggest killing the members of M.E.A.T., then perhaps such comparisons would be appropriate. The ultimate hypocrisy of these pro-lifers lies in their use of killing as a means to prevent killing; the VDS, on the other hand, threatens to destroy the means of meat eating (grills, coals, etc) in order to protest a highly public practice it sees as immoral. If anti-abortionists were simply going into clinics and destroying the medical equipment used by doctors in abortions, I’d still think they were colossal pricks, but they’d certainly far more ethically consistent then the murderous thugs we’ve all come to know and hate.Throw around all the anti-violence rhetoric you want; I’ll let you chew (get it?) on the irony of decrying the adaptation of physical interference (which causes no permanent harm to its “victims”) by activists fighting the wanton suffering experienced by animals for the sake of human sensory pleasure.

VDS-just look at your comments objectively and you will realize why no one respects you or takes you seriously. you seem to have the same logic as the religous groups who blow up abortion clinics. violence has never and will never truly convince people to believe what you do.

the loose network of vegan death squad affiliates talked it over and decided to let this one slide since you’re being so non-confrontational. even so, our opinions have not changed. to us this is not simply a cooking club, its an open celebration of mass slaughter and a cheap laugh at the expense of those concerned about it. if this escalates beyond a bunch of white men eating burgers on the hill and we feel you’ve challenged or provoked us directly then next time the coals won’t burn so hot-VDS

You guys, I did not start the M.E.A.T. club as “a deliberate attempt to bait the vegetarian / vegan community.” I started it because myself and others like eating meat, and I’d like to use that common interest to bring together various groups on the campus. It seems to me that you guys are trying your hardest to vilify us, while he have not made any statements against vegetarianism or veganism. I do not consider the existence of the M.E.A.T. club to be an official statement against vegetarianism / veganism. I feel like people should be able to start a cooking club at Wesleyan without a tirade of criticism. Just let us cook.

Amerika is a novel by Franz Kafka about our bizarre homeland, and also a popular alternative to the more common A-M-E-R-I-C-A.As for spelling humyn with a ‘y,’ if you are in any way associated with this fine university and haven’t come across this convention as an conscious alternative to patriarchal language, you should really try leaving your room some time and, ya know, engaging with others, expanding your mind, etc. For more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WomynAnd yes, the Vegan Deth Squad (VDS) INTENTIONALLY MISSPELLS THE WORD ‘DEATH’. SHUT THE FUCK UP.

this group obviously represents a deliberate attempt to bait the vegetarian/vegan community. theyre celebrating the fact that meat eaters freely operate everywhere and mocking us outright. i dont go into peoples homes and fuck with them when theyre eating dinner, but if a group is explicitly challenging us we arent going to sit idly by-VEGAN DETH SQUAD

My all-to-obvious reply:Is slavery simply a lifestyle choice?I do not intend the use of such rhetoric to compare or equate the situation of animals under the meat industry to various subjugated peoples throughout humyn history, but rather to draw out the parallel that both situations involve what I would consider to be undeniable: namely, that someone is suffering for the benefit for another’s lifestyle. The anti-intellectual, anti-critical form of conservatism adopted by the previous poster is eroding our culture as more and more young people choose to simply stop giving a shit, divorcing their “abstract” knowledge of the real world from their daily lives. This ethico-politcal downward spiral can have no other result besides the continued subjugation of the aforementioned humyns and animals under the myriad forms of slavery we find in Contemporary Amerika, for example.

Look, are you guys seriously going to hate on the fact that people are eating meat together? There are two vegetarian clubs on campus, but no one goes up to them and sprays them with red paint, or criticizes them for their choice of food. Please keep an open mind to other people’s diets, and stop criticizing them for a simple lifestyle choice.
