Wireless file sharing

So there’s been some changes to the wireless network at Wesleyan. For one, you can’t use guest access anymore. However, by far the biggest change is the unblocking of windows network filesharing protocol over wireless. Hot stuff if you would like to you know…share…files…and stuff….not that you would…

    it’s the same way you share them over the wired network, you just have to be connected to wireless. It seems that there’s still no connection between the wired and wireless networks, so if you’re sharing something on the wired network, you can’t access it from wireless. Also, it seems that just typing in computer names doesn’t always work, but you can type in computername.wlan to access the computer on wireless. (this is just short for computername.wlan.wesleyan.edu, which is your reverse dns entry when you’re on wireless.)
