Sadly, pcao and agwilliams are both seniors in woodframes this year and thus unable to host SMBSearch.
List of online networks are in the comments.
And remember: Don’t stream!

-36 is an IO (input/output) error. I don’t know anything beyond that, except I’ve gotten it before and it usually rights itself after a while.

ourTunes is limited because it doesn’t work with anything iTunes 7 or higher. And, that’s what most people have these days. Same case with myTunes.

To Anon: in most cases, you dont need a username or password, just leave them blank and hit enteranyone know why ourtunes is so limited? I can only see 2 or 3 hosts, and I have no idea why. Does it only work with people on your workgroup?

\HIVE is back, and better than ever–last year I only had a 300 GB HDD, so I had to burn a lot of movies and music to disc [and refrain from downloading others]. But, over the summer, I got an additional 500 GB HDD, so everything is back on my computer, and I’m always getting more. Also, I too am looking at setting up a SMBsearch–I contacted pcao and he gave me a tutorial, so hopefully it shouldn’t be too much longer.

The person who is //SHAREBEAR, 1.4GB is pretty high quality. 700mb is pretty good, but there is a noticeable difference in picture quality. All of the servers are working fine now for me, by the way.

I dont know much about network sharing, so maybe someone can help.My files are up under //SHAREBEAR, but theyre all on an external hard drive, which must mean that others can only access them when the drive is connected to my laptop. I assume this means my shared files are also unavailable while my comp sleeps? Also, i wasnt sure what quality to rip movies, so most of mine are 1.4 gigs, encoded with h.264. Sorry for the inconvenience of the large sizes. For future rips, is there a standard rip setting i should use (ie. 700mb, divX, etc)?

actually it’s 10 for xp pro…and ummm… can we not spread this kind of information all over the internets? please? odd, I know, for such a technophile to be advocating word of mouth, but really – think about it. Or at least restrict it to the ACB? Wesleying gets indexed by search engines, LJ comments don’t. – one of the aformentioned hosts.

Each computer can only handle a certain number of connected others. I think it’s 5 for XP pro 5, 3 for XP home, and no idea how many for macs. So, it is not necessarily a problem with your computer if the connectin won’t go through. Try later. For those of us on the network: manage your connections well, to make sure people (esp macs, for whom it is an extra step) unmount when they’re done. Admin tools>computer management>shared folders>open files and sessions. Make sure people aren’t hogging connections with idle sessions.

The only thing I can think of is to make sure you’re connected via LAN, not wireless. To access, you can go to start->run and type “\SERVERNAME” without the quotes. Note that those are backslashes.I was able to access all of them fine except INCARNADINE and THUNDERCUNT when I just tried. As I said last time the topic popped up, I want to host SMBSearch, but the computer I would do it on is currently at home. If no one else comes up with anything before October break, I’ll bring it back with me when I go home.
