depending on the context, those “militias who are indiscriminately killing Iraqi civilians” can be called either “genocidal maniacs” or “murderous bastards.” the existence of these few fringe groups is a main impulse for collaboration by the Iraqi people with the US occupation. It’s the cause of a basic split in those who want Iraq for Iraqis: do we work with the Americans to help eliminate the murderous fringe, or do we keep fighting the Americans to win back the country for ourselves? which goal takes precedence?

Question: does the word “insurgent” also apply to Sunni/ Shia militias who are indiscriminately killing Iraqi civilians? Because, I mean, in answer to the “What would you do..” question, if America was invaded, I probably would not advocate wholesale murder of other Americans.

‘Terrorism’ consists of guerrilla attacks that target civilians. There are no American civilians in Iraq (Blackwater employees and the like are mercenaries). Surely some Iraqi insurgents target collaborators (those who cooperate with American/coalition forces), but many/most do not. Insurgents who attack the soldiers of an occupying force are not terrorists. – 10:32

10:27, I suggest you attend the screening and find out if it does. I mean, the directors are going to be there so you can take your concerns to them.

Being attacked by a platoon on a suicide mission is not an ‘invasion,’ it is an isolated guerrilla action. An invasion consists of a sizable enemy military force that enters a country (or other geopolitical entity) from the outside and seizes territory. Liberal or conservative, it’s incorrect to equate a single guerrilla action with an invasion and occupation of an entire nation. So the question is – what would you do if America was invaded?

I think the first Anonymous post is referring to the fact that enemies hostile to America invaded our country on September 11, 2001—or in the months and years prior—and killed nearly 3,000 of our people. While I don’t necessarily see the connection between this invasion of America and our incursion into Iraq, I do see a parallel. But I don’t want to put words in Anonymous’ (online) mouth.
