The bad news: It’s supposed to be followed by sleet, freezing rain, and/or normal rain.
Connecticut winter strikes again!
… Winter Weather Advisory in effect from midnight tonight to
1 PM EST Sunday…
The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory… which is in effect from midnight tonight to 1 PM EST
Snow is expected to develop across the area late this evening.
Then as warmer air moves in aloft… the snow will mix with and
then change to sleet late tonight… and then change to freezing
rain by early morning Sunday. Freezing rain is expected to
continue through early afternoon… before changing to plain rain.
The period of heaviest precipitation will be Sunday morning
through Sunday afternoon. 1 to 2 inches of total combined snow
and sleet accumulation are expected before any changeover… and
then an additional 2 to 4 tenths of an inch of ice accumulation is
possible before precipitation changes to rain.
In addition… northeast winds could gust as high as 30 mph Sunday
morning into the afternoon. The gusty winds could knock down some
ice covered power lines and overhanging limbs… resulting in power
