Bon Appetit has apparently decided to listen to us and make breakfast and lunch “All You Care to Eat.” This means that meals will now be usable for lunch and dinner at the Usdan Marketplace. Breakfast will be priced at $5.50, and lunch at $7.50 (Dinner stays at $9.25). This also apparently means that the Cafe downstairs will offer a bit more variety in the way of food.
Also, Bon Appetit is asking everyone to return all of the dishes and silverware we’ve borrowed throughout the semester in an effort to reduce the quantity of disposable plastic utensils in an event they’re calling ‘Plate Amnesty Week’. There should be bins scattered around dorm halls and near the entrance to the Marketplace from the 17th to the 21st (right now).
The Cafe downstairs in Usdan will have many more grab ‘n go options than it did previously. At the WSA meeting, Delmar Crim talked to us about the new options, including hot pizza, burgers, soup, and microwaveable entrees, Hopefully they’ll have new vegan options as well. If you all have any more suggestions, email wsa@wesleyan.edu and we’ll work on making sure your ideas are heard in the dining committee meetings, where a lot of decisions are actually made.

there was some talk about this on the parents’ listserv earlier this year. i agree that it’s ridiculous that we only get two meals a day for all that we pay, but all of the schools they mentioned that have 3 meals a day have meal plans that are substantially more expensive than ours.

The only problem with this is that it rules out decent a la carte vegetarian and vegan dining (Weswings doesn’t offer much). This was a big plus in the old campus center format for both lunch and dinner. It’s hard for me to tell, because I wasn’t there this past semester, but it sounds like vegans and vegetarians badly are in need of more options.

But then there’s this.Which says that you can almost eat 2 meals a day. If you go out to eat a few times throughout the semester you can on 5 meals, or you can anyway on 8 meals. It’s a stretch, but it is possible.

it doesn’t make sense that they’re keeping the 5 meals or 8 meals plan. i think 10 meals would be pretty good. i guess i’ll switch up to 8… there is no point in having 5.

Because $7.50 + $9.25 > $14, which is about the daily allowance for points. I usually get lunch there for under 4 or 5 points.

this isn’t better than what we have. right now at least we have the option to eat cheaper meals. it’s possible to eat a 3$ lunch if you take a bagel and slather it with peanut butter. now we can’t even do that.

Thanks for the correction, anon@11:05.No, it’s certainly not a perfect solution, but it’s better than what we have. I usually end up spending closer to $10 for lunch when I go there now. Yes, not being able to eat 3 meals a day on our meal plan is ridiculous considering how much we pay to go here but I think that this is at least a step in the right direction.Marianna, why wouldn’t you be able to eat more than one meal there a day?

I don’t know who this “us” is you’re talking about, but I’m sad to see that I can’t eat more than one meal there a day.

Dinner is $9.25, not $9.50.
