Come audition for Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing, going up the first weekend of May! Directed by Grace Overbeke ’08, produced by Second Stage.
“I can’t write love. Love and being loved is unliterary.” This whip-smart play piercingly articulates the muddy-wonderful confusion of being in love in a way that is witty, yearning, and painfully honest. It’s a romantic comedy with intellectual bite that will make you think as hard as it will make you laugh.
We’re looking for three men and three women to appear in the first show ever to tak place in the Daniel Family Commons, perhaps the first instance of Theatre-on-the-Dot (as opposed to in the round). Lot’s of good Meisner technique and psychological delving, dancing to the Monkees and a script that will stick with you for the rest of your life. Let’s create something brilliant and amazing!
To audition, email Grace (goverbeke@wes) or Arie (aslevine@wes) and we’ll email you sides (a monologue or short scene) to work on. Sign up in the Theatre Dept. building. Also, come prepared to tell a secret, it can be true or false, but it has to scare you.
When: Thursday 2/7 and Friday 2/8, 4:30-7:30
Where: East Room (Theatre Dept. building)
