Exploring Global Climate Change
from Science to Art
May 10, 2008
Veteran’s Park, Middletown

Proposals for pieces by Wesleyan students due February 29, 2008

Feet to the Fire will assemble a diverse array of artists, scientists and other thinkers to address the environmental challenges that face us today on a global scale and in our own communities. It will feature a site-specific work by award-winning choreographer, Ann Carlson commissioned by the festival. The goal of the festival, produced in collaboration with Middletown’s Jonah Center for Earth and Art, is to convey a deeper understanding of the issues surrounding global climate change to the Wesleyan and Middletown communities through multiple lenses. Veteran’s Park is a wooded city park about a ten minute walk from campus.

The festival is seeking proposals for works to be displayed on May 10. Works will include: site-specific art installations; music, dance, theater, spoken word performances; multi-media exhibits/displays which will explore any aspect of global climate change.

Performances will take place either on stages erected at the site (which will have wood flooring and a minimal sound system) or at various locations in the park. Art installations/ exhibits/ displays will be sited by festival organizers working in concert with artists. Stipends are available.
