If you want to sign up for this quarter for the Fruit and Veggie co-op, the deadline is TONIGHT, Monday, at midnight! (Edit: Don’t worry, if you are already signed up for the semester, you don’t need to do it again.)
Ellie Wiener ’09 sends us some information about the Co-op and signing up. It’s 90 points for the rest of the semester (15 points per week for 6 weeks), or you can split your share with someone else and pay 45 points each. If you sign up, all the points will be deducted from your account right now in the first week.
What do you get in exchange? Every Thursday between 5 and 7 pm, you can pick up a variety of organic fruits and vegetables. Exactly what you get changes every week, but here are what the last two weeks consisted of:
example share, two: 1 head cauliflower, 1 bag Fuji Apples, half a red cabbage, 2 cucumbers, 1 package portabella mushrooms, 4 red potatoes, 2 Bosc Pears
You’ll get an e-mail every Thursday morning with a list of that week’s share, and a couple of recipes using those ingredients. Everything that isn’t picked up will be donated to Food Not Bombs. Additionally, every member of the coop must sign up to volunteer for just one hour (so not a big deal!) on one Thursday afternoon, sorting boxes, helping during the pickup time, and cleaning up.
If you want to sign up, go to Ellie’s house (316 Washington Street, “the big yellow house second from the corner of Vine and Wash and next to the Lutheran Church”) before midnight. There will be a sign-up sheet on the door. It will need your email address, your name, your wesID, and your signature. There will be separate sign up sheets for one person and two person groups, but they need all of that information for both members of a group, so come prepared.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ellie either at her e-mail address (email@example.com) or by ringing her doorbell and saying hello – she says she should be around most of the time!
