Did you know Usdan had a PA system? I always suspected it, and my suspicions were confirmed today when, during lunch, a voice came over the loudspeaker and said, “In honor of Tuition Transition Day [or whatever], we just wanted to say that, no matter what you’re paying, you’re here for free.”
No word on when your checks will be arriving.
(Seriously, though, thanks to all the alums and others who have donated money toward the tuition funds. I would be in Ohio right now weeping if it weren’t for you.)

i find this whole tuition transition day to be bullshit. wow, so the school pays $16k a year on behalf of each of us…..as does every other private school. this is not a huge new developement, it’s simply the school trying to make us forget that we pay one of the highest tuitions in the country so that the board of trustees can continue to hire shitty architects to construct ugly buildings that don’t work effectively (among other things).

fuck you anonymous 6:56, just because you’re paying full tuition doesn’t mean that families paying partial tuition aren’t working just as hard to pay

Yeah,If the school is trying to get us to appreciate the people partly subsidizing our education, say that, but don’t go so far as to insult the people whose families are working hard to pay the $45,000 to go here. Saying that we’re here for “free” doesn’t really bring me over to being appreciative, it just makes me frustrated. Don’t piss on our legs and tell us its raining.

if you pay full tuition, your money covered each day from the beginning of this school year until today. the extra silent scholarship everyone receives will cover the remainder of the year, thus the rest of the year is ‘free’ for everyonethey should have explained it better.

actually, anon 12:33, even if you ARE paying full tuition you’re receiving a silent scholarship of approx $16k because the cost of educating each Wesleyan student is actually that much MORE than full tuition. So no, even if you’re paying full tuition you’re not even covering your own costs, let alone anyone else’s.

that doesn’t make any sense. you paying full tuition doesn’t pay for anyone else but yourself.

Man, I felt like I was on a cruise ship when I heard the announcement! My “free” ride began much earlier in the year, no doubt. But saying we’re now here for “free” is like saying you get a free toy… but only when you pay for the Happy Meal first.

except for the students who pay full tuition…then they’re paying for other students as well.
