RickRoll the Mets… every game this season

Some of you may be familiar with the concept of the Rickroll, an internet phenomenon. It involves getting someone to listen, against their best intentions, to Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up – and ideally, to watch the rather spectacular music video, as well. This can be done, most popularly, by linking to something entirely unrelated, that redirects to the song (such as Youtube’s April 1st joke – all featured videos redirected there). Alternatively, more creative methods have been attempted, such as embedding the musical notes into a webcomic a la XKCD, or playing the song loudly and disruptively in some public location.

Currently, the Mets are having a contest to determine what song should be played during the 8th inning… for the entire season. There is an option for a write-in vote; choose “Never Gonna Give You Up – Rick Astley” and rickroll their entire season. Go vote! The deadline is April 7th.

Aww. Don’t get me wrong – I love the Mets. But it would be exciting for them to sing this song during every game. The people who did get it, would think it was hilarious… and the people who didn’t would just think it was a “meh” song. :P

Yeah, Rickrolling is funny, but I feel like its just kind of mean to Rickroll the Mets for every game during the last season they’ll ever play at their stadium before it gets demolished.
