Dr. John Daniel on South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission

Emily Malkin ’08 writes:

Dr. John Daniel will be at Wes this Monday giving a lecture called “South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission(TRC): How Much Truth, How Much Reconciliation?” This is John’s second visit to Wesleyan; he came last year to speak generally about South Africa’s experience with the TRC and is now back to do a follow-up lecture on how effective the TRC has been for South Africa’s post-apartheid race relations. He is wonderful and engaging speaker, so all should come!

John is South African and was a senior researcher for the TRC from 1996-1998. He was also part of the small team that wrote the five-volume final report of the Commission, released in October 1998. Currently, he is working as the academic coordinator for the School for International Training in Durban, South Africa.

He will be speaking tomorrow (Monday) at 4:15 in Pac 001. See you there!
