Being a Social Justice Ally

Stephanie Quainoo ’10 sends us some info about a social justice event – what does it mean to be a social justice ally?

When: Thursday May 1st, 2008
Where: (please note different times/venues):

  • Colloquium: 4:00 PM in PAC 002
  • Workshop: 8:30 PM in Fayerweather Theater Room

What: Please join us for an evening of interactive activities designed to help members of the Wesleyan Community create a safe space for all. Our two-part social justice colloquium and workshop, sponsored by The Dean’s Office and members of the Residential Life student staff, is an event you should not miss! Led by guest speaker Alan Berkowitz PhD (P’09), the events will focus on recognizing systems of oppression, skill building, facilitation techniques, deconstructing unwelcome remarks, confronting bystander behavior and fostering leadership abilities.

Free Food at both events.

Wesleyan University students, faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to attend, ask questions and participate in the discussion.
