The Hartford Courant has published what appears to be the first newspaper account of the events that took place earlier this morning:
Police say they arrested five students at Wesleyan University who were part of a large crowd on campus that lashed out at police early this morning.
[…]Campus security called Middletown police around 1:30 a.m. today, asking for help in breaking up the crowd on Fountain Avenue, police said. The crowd of roughly 200 students refused orders to disperse. Some yelled obscenities and threw bottles at officers, police said.
Due to the size of the crowd, police requested help from state police, Cromwell police and Portland police.
Update (Mad, 2 am 5/17): The Courant ran another article, this time about the disagreement between Wes students and M-town police on how to view the night’s incidents.
