Initial WSA response to Fountain incident

WSA President Mike Pernick ’10 and Vice President Saul Carlin ’09 sent an email out to students regarding the Fountain Ave. incident:

Several hours ago, an incident occurred on Fountain Ave involving an unusually large police presence. Over a dozen state and local police vehicles were present. There were multiple arrests and medical transports. Student witnesses cited the use of excessive force, including a canine unit, tear gas, rubber bullets, and tasers.

The WSA will respond to this situation. As more details are confirmed, we will work with students, the administration, and local law enforcement to address tonight’s events. Please contact us at wsa@wesleyan.edu with any specific concerns regarding the situation.
