… Wesleyan University students are facing criminal charges after police broke up a series of large gatherings.

Middletown police called for backup from police in the neighboring communities of Cromwell and Portland as nearly 200 people gathered in the area of Fountain and Lawn avenues and Pine Street…

… Some students complained that police arrested several students without apparent cause or provocation. They also claimed some officers unnecessarily hit, shoved and tackled students. Police and the university said they were going to review the incidents…
