Wrapping Up

Commencement is winding down. As I write this, they are reading the names of graduates whose names begin with the letter S. Clearly, most of the assembled crowd had come to see Obama (and so had ALL of the media, as my video camera is the only one still running on the platform, capturing the ceremony).

There is not much to report, but I will have full-length video clips of remarks made by Wesleyan President Michael Roth and U.S. Senator Barack Obama (who did a spectacular job in Senator Kennedy’s stead) online by the end of the day.

I will also find a way to make the entire commencement video that I filmed today available to the Wesleyan community, sooner rather than later.

Now they’re reading the names of seniors whose last names begin with V. I’ll collect my thoughts and put up a post with text and images later, but thanks to everybody who visited Wesleying today, and on behalf of all contributors we at Wesleying extend our congratulations to the entire class of 2008, most especially our fellow contributors/blog founders Holly and Xue.

Colin McEnroe (local columnist, radio host, blogger, and all-around good guy) seems to think that Obama’s “Wellesleying” was a blunder rather than an intentional in-joke.

I checked out the webcast online and loved it. Funny how Obama’s speech was less political than Roth’s! I agree it was a fantastic speech.Question re. those garbled references to Wesleyan by Rashida and Obama – were they supposed to be inside jokes? I couldn’t tell if his was intentional or not because of the bad streaming quality online. If so, looks like someone at Obama HQ has been reading this blog!Congrats to all in the Class of ’08.
