“I’m trying to stay away from really earthy schools… Like, I wanted to apply to Bard, but from what it said, it was a really granola school. Wesleyan is, like, academically rigorous.“
–Marston Hefner, son of Hugh. from here.
Earlier we heard that Marston wanted to come to Wesleyan. I can’t tell if the above quote is meant to put Wesleyan together with Bard as a “earthy” school to stay away from or in contrast to Bard as a non-granola. Thoughts?

@ Xaoxi I am personally embarassed by this post, as it makes it appear that we as a community are actually interested in whether a non-entity such as this attends our school. Please, save it for the ACB or the tabloids. Don’t you have anything better to do? Also, playboy sucks. I don’t know how anyone can toss it to that airbrushed bullshit.

ok so this post was nothing new compared to the old one, but more importantly, the NY Post is really pathetic for just copying quotes from the GQ article in this piece. God I hate that rag.

When a post is uninteresting or irrelevant to me, I skip it. No big deal. The people who complain about such posts are wasting everyone’s time. This post however, is disgusting, and deserves all the bashing it has received and more.Stalking is creepy, regardless of whether the person you are stalking is “famous” or not. Both posts about this kid made me very uncomfortable. This makes me feel like I’m reading a tabloid, or watching a FOXNews report on Paris Hilton. And that’s not a feeling that I can make go away by skipping over the articles. If you value good journalism, please don’t do what like all the bad journalists do.”…Wesleying does not have fact checkers…” –Wesleying contributorIf you are a contributor to Wesleying, then you had better be a fact checker as well. Otherwise, it is you who is the worst Wesleying contributor.

12:08: That was my point–it took you 30 seconds to read, regardless, and if you didn’t like it you could have just skipped over it and gone about your business. And removing anonymous comments hasn’t been seriously up for discussion because most of the contributors agree that they’re valuable. My point was that things like this make them appear a lot less valuable and if things like this happen repeatedly it might change some minds.

cry about it and/or get a life, lazy anonymous non-wesleying-contributing dickheads.

@Sam: First of all, 30 seconds is all you need to read this post and its link, so that’s not a great counter-argument for post-bashing. And, this post is a duplicate of the other wesleying post on Hugh’s son, with less information. That being said, Wesleying does not have fact checkers and editors, so occasionally readers are subjected to – GASP – duplicates. Deal with it and move on. Xiaoxi is a solid poster, even if she needs to practice her comebacks (Xiaoxi: PWND!). :-) These comments were hurtful and unnecessary. Xiaoxi is one of your peers and she volunteers to make information about your life easier to find. If you think she shouldn’t post stuff like this, feel free to say so in the comments. Also, sam: As far as I know, removing anonymous comments isn’t up for discussion. Only a few wesleying writers wanted to abolish them and it would take lots of more extreme comments to change the rest of our minds. So to summarize, as far as I know, we’re not going to censor you or revoke anonymous posting, but you’re abusing our posting policy and hurting someone who helps you.–Wesleying Contributor

Though I don’t particularly care about the content of this post, I see Xiaoxi as an excellent contributor to Wesleying. Her posts are usually timely and pertinent. What’s the point in providing useless and venomous feedback aside from venting personal animosity?

First: all of you people insulting Xiaoxi spent what, 30 seconds reading the post? If you have constructive criticism that is one thing, but a post’s comments should not be used primarily for insulting that post’s author. We contributors keep anonymous comments enabled because we think the majority of the people posting them can help provide us with valuable feedback, despite the few anonymous idiots. Don’t give us a good argument for disabling them.

Ok, this quote is the same as the earlier one, except they removed the part that made it clear that he was contrasting Wes to Bard, listing it among his favorites. That being said, shouldn’t we know by now?

I read that as saying “these two may be both “granola” but Wesleyan is academically rigorous as well, so I like it better.” But maybe that’s just me.
