“White House Refused to Open Pollutants E-Mail”
I’m not really sure why I’m still surprised at headlines like this, now that we’ve endured almost eight years of George W. Bush. But I am. From the article:
The White House in December refused to accept the Environmental Protection Agency’s conclusion that greenhouse gases are pollutants that must be controlled, telling agency officials that an e-mail message containing the document would not be opened, senior E.P.A. officials said last week.
My life would be so much easier if I could do this. Student loans? No, don’t think I’m going to worry about those. Tuition bill? Nah, that’s far too much money, I’ll just let it sit there until they decide to reduce it.
Honestly, how the hell does anyone, even especially our President get away with this? I didn’t know it was possible for me to be even more depressed about the job Bush is doing…
i agree with 6:49. this was the only post that i actually read as opposed to glanced at

While there’s not much wesleyan news, anything goes which is interesting — and this qualifies.

Thanks :)
Thanks :)
I liked this post, actually. I felt it was entirely relevant to our lives. This is the administration that we are living with and the legacy that is being set for our future. I think it exemplifies pretty well the situation we’re living in today. I don’t find this any less relevant than odd posts about Spore and the copious posts about the election. The political situation IS still significant. At least to me. I like what Wesleying is.

1:21: I agree completely, and I appreciated 11:20’s comment, and I think that at least part of the fault is mine for not making what I meant to say clear.

Ok I get annoyed when anonymous commenters are all “this post is fucking stupid, you suck”, but the “just don’t read bad posts” argument is also dumb. Yeah Wesleying is student-run and that’s great, but that doesn’t mean ANYONE should post ANYTHING whenever they feel like it. If a contributor wants to write about some issue totally unrelated to Wes and that most readers probably won’t be interested in, they should consider getting their own platform to do it on. And anonymous judgments of posts might get way too bitchy, but they’re feedback that the blogger can look at and decide whether or not they’re valid criticisms of the content. The poster doesn’t have to listen to any of it, but if nobody ever criticized posts then the general posting quality of this site would probably not be very high.

“making a ‘wow Bush is dumb’ post is unnecessary and king of annoying on Wesleying.”Why do readers feel entitled to determine what goes onto Wesleying? It’s a student run blog which can be blogged on by ANY student. If this is what Sam wants to write about he should be able to say it. If you disagree with the substance of what he says, then comment, but don’t pull that, “this doesn’t belong here bullshit.” If you don’t want to read about it – DON’T – scroll down, what the fuck do you care?

11:20: I realize Bush-bashing is nothing new here and I’m sorry if you felt the post misplaced. I wasn’t trying to bash Bush. Him doing this doesn’t surprise me nearly as much as the lack of reaction (say from EPA officials) about this, and that was what my comment was meant to be about. I find the complete lack of response or resolve on the part of the EPA to be at least as much a problem as Bush refusing to open the e-mail. Sorry if that wasn’t clear, or if you still feel the post was unnecessary.

yeah… sorry Sam, this is really nothing new. Nobody who reads this blog is impressed with Bush, making a “wow Bush is dumb” post is unnecessary and kind of annoying on Wesleying
