P-Safe Alert: Townie Ruckus on Pine

Altercation! Gunshot! Hand injury! Overall, a P-Safe alert full of exciting buzzwords.

Public Safety would like to alert the community that on Sunday 9/7/08 at approximately 2:30 am Public Safety and Middletown Police responded to a reported disturbance on Pine St. Initial investigation revealed that a group of approximately 10 non-students attempted to enter a small party and when denied a physical altercation occurred. During the altercation a reported gun shot was heard and all individuals fled the area. There was no reported injury from the gunshot but one student was treated for a hand injury that occurred during the altercation.

This incident is under investigation by the Middletown Police and Wesleyan Public Safety. Anyone with any information is asked to call Middletown Police at 344-3200 or Public Safety at 685-2345.

Anyone care to share details?

Response to 12:30My friends and I called PSafe freshman year about a similar experience with someone in a van asking us where the parties were… it was the falafel guy, so it’s entirely it was something like that.

um… not sure if it’s right, too, to say that it’s not the townie’s fault. they got really fucking violent for no good reason (ie is there ever a good reason for shit like the fight that happpened?) and it was scary as shit. that’s all there is to it.

cause people always need to get fucked up. if the cops let townies throw massive ragers, then it would be a different situation.

There was a pretty sketchy guy in a red van tonight who asked me if there were “any parties going on, bro?” That was lulz.

I hope that we can not blame this on “the townies.” Yes, the Middletown/Wes relationship is less than ideal, but that’s as much our fault as Wesleyan students as it is any “townie’s” fault. This is an isolated incident that occurred.I think it would be great if there more events on campus that were open to the greater Middletown community (although I noticed a lot more over the past year! good job, Wes)

In answer to 1:30 p.m., it’s because there’s next to nothing for anyone under the age of 21 to do after dark. In case you haven’t noticed, Middletown (with some rare exceptions) hates its young.

Wow Anon 2:11, way to bring race into it and then be offended that it has been made an issue. Classy.

Can you please change the title of this post? Calling participants “townies” doesn’t exactly help town-gown relations.
