Broad Street Books will welcome Mary L. Dudziak, author of “Exporting American Dreams: Thurgood Marshall’s African Journey” tonight at 5pm.
Thurgood Marshall became a living icon of civil rights when he argued Brown v. Board of Education before the Supreme Court in 1954. In 1960, he helped Kenyan independence leaders write their constitution with the belief that law might serve as the tool used to forge a just society. Mary Dudziak, Professor of Law and History at the University of Southern California Law School, recounts the untold story of Marshall’s journey to Africa.
