Bon Appetit Offers PETA2 Voting Incentives

All I know about this PETA2 vegetarian contest thing is that Wesleyan is somehow winning in its group (we just beat SUNY Fredonia), and I would assume that people other than Bon Appetit higher-ups are voting for us.

Bon Appetit employee Bernice Laille says:

“It’s a victory in itself to have made it this far in the contest, but now the competition is really kicking into high gear! We’re facing off against Ohio University, who has really rallied the student body through on-campus email promotions. We must definitely want to pull out all of the stops to help drive in as many votes from everyone as soon as possible before the third round ends!”

And in case you hadn’t already noticed from a trip to Usdan this week, Bon Appetit really wants us to win:So if you’d like to continue this victory streak and prove our veg-friendly prowess against Ohio University, or want an an apparent chance to win a $100 Best Buy gift certificate, vote here, the third round ends Wednesday at 5.

things are still not 100% “veg-friendly”, so why would I want to vote for Wesleyanwould BA please stop using the same spatulas at the stir fry station when they cook the meat and tofu, although it may not seem like a big deal to meat eaters, personally I dont want little pieces of beef and chicken in my tofu stir fry…ive stopped getting it for this reasonbasically BA is bribing students into voting for this peta2 thing, its obviously not a valid ranking

hmm, that’s a good point 10:43.. if BA wins this, then they might put their efforts into improving REAL food, that the MAJORITY of the people here ACTUALLY EAT. Or at the very least they’ll make sure there are FORKS. FUCK.

This is a terrible contest to win. The only award the winning school will get is an excuse for passivism in improving vegetarian/vegan options. Vote for Ohio!

Ohio University has 17,000+ undergrads… they have an inherent advantage. not that I care that much about this contest, but it’ll be interesting if Wes can punch above it’s weight.

Two things:1. The banner for Peta2 looks like something out of the Victoria Secret college competition that wesleying posted about a while back.2. What the hell is peta2? It’s been asked before but I’m still curious

why would i vote for them after vegan cafe was annihilated? after they killed livewolves food coop for self-righteous, self-serving purposes! i wasn’t a huge fan of aramark, but eating as a vegetarian and vegan under bon appetit is tokenizing and vomitizing. fuck that, i’m not voting on principle.

Does anyone care about this aside from Bon Appetit? Is it safe to say that this victory would just act a relentless promotional claim for their informational table prisms? Frankly, I’d rather read about tomatoes or seafood.
