Art in the Eye of a Needle

This is almost too incredible to believe, but a man who is completely illiterate started creating sculptures the size of the eye of a needle when his teachers made him feel like shit for his learning problems. You have to watch his radical art.

“I think I inhaled her”–good line. But seriously, as someone studying overseas right now, I think you’ve become a little bit too ensconced in the Wesleyan bubble when you see Wesleying as a barometer of America’s moral engagement of the world. Consider a semester abroad to clear your head, even if you’re an international student, 11:57. Or at least get off the internet for a while. Now that guy getting trampled on Black Friday, THAT is something that says terrible things about America.

Listen, it’s no surprise that there exist arrogant, insulated Wes students, and certainly Americans at large, but many of us are also capable of empathy and compassion. So sorry, 11:57 and 8:00, that you feel alienated, but don’t judge an entire large group of people based on isolated instances, like this blog. Besides, a post was made addressing this issue, which is ostensibly applicable to members of the Wes student body – most of the targets in Mumbai were tourist areas, and there are Indian international students here. And 1:14 pm, you’re full of it.

Doing a lot to dispel the rumored arrogance of Wes students specifically and Americans in general 1:14. Way to go.

I agree, that is an absurd assumption. What happened is sad and terrible, but you also distancing yourself from Americans like that, your classmates & the people you go to school with, is not good either.

11:57, I have been closely following the news about Mumbai, but can still enjoy the generally lighthearted articles posted on this blog. The statement that wesleying represents what all americans care about is utterly ridiculous, and hearing such bitterness from a wesleyan student is disheartening.

Why don’t you transfer, asshole. You don’t deserve the once-in-a-lifetime education that this place provides.

So 140+ people get killed by terrorists in Mumbai and all you Americans care about is pinhead art, a pledge drive and some silly article about sex. Now you know what it’s like to a be an International Student at Wesleyan and why the world thinks you Americans are such spoiled, self-involved fools.
