Woman Makes Palin Look Like Einstein

On the tv show “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader” a woman was asked “Budapest is the capital of what European country?”. Her response is beyond disturbing.

the people who were commenting on the video’s sexism were referring to the host’s remark about the contestant only hearing what she wants – it’s because she’s a woman, he says. no one was mad that it was a woman that was being a fucking idiot.

Oh COME ON, just because this because depicts a shockingly ignorant woman does not mean its sexist. It just someone who is willfully, blatantly, amazingly ignorant who happens to be a woman. So what?I’m guessing that what is causing consternation is the comment that he made about “That’s just called being a woman” but that had nothing to do with her ignorance, he said it in response to her comment “I’m listening to what you’re saying but only hear what I want to” which is certainly a gender-stereotype, maybe even offensive to some but I don’t think its the kind of gendered-humor (if you want to call it that) that is problematic, at worst his statement can be taken to mean “all women just hear what they want” which isn’t flattering, but it isn’t really oppressive either. You guys crying foul on sexism, does that mean that we can only laugh when privileged white men do stupid things? I can sort of agree that it wasn’t very funny, IMO it was more shocking and cringe-worthy but I would have thought that no matter what the gender of the person in question.

How exactly is this sexist? It’s a video of a rather unintelligent person who happens to be female. I don’t see any sexism in that.Consider the following exchange:Question: “What feature is a Manx cat missing? Is it its hair, its tail, or its sense of humor?”Answer: “Its sense of humor.”Now suppose a black person answered the question. Do I become a racist for pointing that out? Sheesh.

10:10–And do you really think Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader is combating the problem of rampant stupidity? Come on.

Um. I am far more worried about gendered humor than about “rampant stupidity”. Gendered humor is harmful. Extremely harmful. The fact that so many people don’t see that and aren’t bothered by it is evidence of just how harmful. It is not okay to make blatantly sexist jokes. And I don’t necessarily think it’s something we should endorse. I found the entire thing unfunny. It’s also quite old, by the way.

It is indeed Kellie Pickler. She later goes on the Ellen Show to discuss this embarrassing performance, and forgets what the country was!! “Oh, right Hungary, that’s what it was”.I actually find her stupidity refreshingly sincere, strangely enough. At least she knows she dumb.

I refuse to believe that this is real. I think this woman pretended to be that stupid to get on television.

jesus christ. sexist? come on. the woman is just dumb as a brick, and if you looked, you’d find that the show features all kinds of people who are dumb as bricks. you might not want to be worried about gender-tinged humor when we’ve got rampant stupidity to worry about.
