For once, I’m actually impressed by Bush

President Bush’s quick reaction time and skillful ducking kept him from getting hit after Iraqi journalist Muntadar al-Zeidi launched both his shoes right at the president’s face, while yelling, “This is a farewell kiss, dog!” Bush’s response? A classy, “All I can report is it is a size 10.”

Good work, Bush. I’m actually proud of you, for once.

hey 6:34, wasn’t everything carter said and thought almost entirely right in retrospect?only decent man to ever be president, and look at the way the political class treats him now.

7:40 – you can only see the agents at the front of the room. by the time you see them get to the back of the room, where the shoe-thrower is, you can tell from their faces and body language that the agents in the back of the room already have him on the ground.

I’m not really feeling the slow response from the Secret Service Agents. I’m demanding a few refresher courses before Obama’s Inauguration.

First of all 6:38, there is no reason to believe that anything approaching a “sustainable democracy” is going to take hold in Iraq-Read Nir Rosen, he knows his shit. And 6:34, let’s leave Franklin Pierce the fuck out of this

As an international student (Indonesia) I have no love for Bush, but if in fact Iraq does become a sustainable democracy in a part of the world that is almost overwhelmingly ruled by despots, then his role in history will have to be reassessed and probably adjusted upward. I know many here would not like that, but right now your country’s war with Iraq has finally stabilized and could quite rightly be characterized a victory on most levels (Saddam gone, democracy established where none had ever been before). Of course, if the country descends into civil war or an Iranian satellite then he becomes even worse in history’s eyes.

I too am not a fan of Bush but he did do more to try to help AIDS victims in Africa than any leader in the world (or all UN efforts combined). So that, ducking a shoe, holding the country together for the first month or so after 9-11 and making Mexican food a staple vs everything else he did = only slightly better than Harding, Pierce and Carter at the bottom of the presidential pantheon.

5:28 – Really? I can in no way support most, if any, of the decisions Bush has made during his presidency but at this point shitting on him is like beating a dead horse.

Did Bush respond in Arabic? I hope that the would-be assassin doesn’t suffer too much, that took a lot of courage.
