For once, I’m actually impressed by Bush

President Bush’s quick reaction time and skillful ducking kept him from getting hit after Iraqi journalist Muntadar al-Zeidi launched both his shoes right at the president’s face, while yelling, “This is a farewell kiss, dog!” Bush’s response? A classy, “All I can report is it is a size 10.”

Good work, Bush. I’m actually proud of you, for once.

I’ll be impressed with Bush if he does his damndest to make sure that this guy isn’t tortured and killed for throwing a couple of shoes.

more impressed that he has reaction time than proud, I’d say. Maybe that’s where all his brain power went.

maybe the curse was broken with reagan? but really, to leave bush of all presidents to be the first 0-year president to not fall victim to some deadly phenomenon or assassination (or at least an attempt) is a little ironic. not that i would wish death upon anyone, but history is history, and curses are curses… (the cubs still haven’t won the world series)

guess its good that all the drinking and cocaine use (that ended in his late 30’s) didnt affect GW’s motor skills too adversely.

Kinda wanted to see them hit him in the face. Gotta hand it to him, he’s got a quick (lame) duck.

“Proud” of Bush? Why would someone throw shoes? Do a little research before you post! In some part of the world shoes are the ultimate sign of disrespect. To have a ring of shoes tied around ones neck is the ultimate disgrace.Your “pride” is part of the classic American impulse to forgive our leaders as their tenures wrap up, and it’s very disappointing. Next time you feel like giving Bush a high five think about sheer number of deaths that are a direct result of his decisions (about 3000-some US troops, probably more than 10000 Iraqis, that doesn’t even start with Afghanistan). He’s a criminal.

1:05, true. I watched it again – he actually gets tackled to the ground right as the second shoe leaves his hand. Maybe the NFL will recruit him after Obama closes down Gitmo.

@Saul:Also, if you consider that they probably searched everyone for weapons and such before they entered the room, chances are that they realized that Bush wasn’t in any serious danger. Bush himself is actually smiling before he ducks the second shoe

Well my standards for Bush were already extremely low 12:36 am, so the fact that he was able to duck a shoe was impressive to me.

i found this clip pretty funny (bush’s ninja duck) but impressed? please. if you think that dodging a shoe thrown at your head by a victim of an imperialist occupation is impressive, you need a serious readjustment of your standards.
