Gmail Switchover

So, like we said before, ITS is switching webmail over to Gmail. By the look of the shoutbox, folks have some questions about all the finicky details, like, “how do I get my old emails back?” C’mon guys, new year, new start. But, if it’s really that important to you, check out the ITS Blog featuring the FAQ and How To’s. Sheesh, some people have no sense of adventure.

Also, please don’t call me directly, but you might catch me picking up the ‘phone at Helpdesk – 860.685.4000. Then again, you might not – I’m still in NH at the moment. Everyone else driving home (sorry Mom, I mean back to college) in the snow, be sure to drive safe. /PSA

    Having the same problem as Mad Joy; and it’s not an issue with step 6. I skipped that by accident on my first try, but I got a different error message when I did that. Now I’m getting the “Server denied POP3 access” one. I’ll call help desk tomorrow, I guess.

    It is working for me, make sure you followed step 6 perhaps?… “6) Then replace the POP server with ‘cyrus.mail.wesleyan.edu‘.” By default ‘mail.cyrus.wesleyan.edu’ is already filled in…

    i’m having the same exact problems with forwarding as mad joy, and ditto on the pturenne email. please let us know what helpdesk says.

    Also, the email "Spring 2009 Drop/Add & Tutorial Course Registration" from the Registrar's Office went straight to my Spam folder. Not really a problem, just hilarious.

    When I try to transfer my old e-mails using the how-to guide, it tells me “Server denied POP3 access for the given username and password” even though I’m using my standard wesleyan username and password (which works fine for eportfolio).I guess I’ll try again later. Maybe it will be fixed ish.
