Fiction workshop with Visiting Writer Amy Bloom

Lucia Pier from Russell House announces a pretty cool-sounding programs for aspiring writers and/or fans of Amy Bloom ’75:

The Wesleyan Writing Program is delighted to announce a new program for student writers featuring fiction writer Amy Bloom, the 2009 Jacob Julien Visiting Writer.

Bloom will be on campus for four days, from February 16-19. She will work with selected students in two informal fiction writing workshops (not for credit) on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-6:30 pm. She will also offer an evening reading open to the public on Wednesday, February 18.

We invite you to apply to participate in Bloom’s fiction workshops. Please submit one short story or a sample of your fiction writing and an application letter addressing what you would like to focus on in the workshop. Attach a cover sheet including your name, class year, email address, cell phone number, and mailbox number. Please also list any creative writing courses you have taken at Wesleyan. No online or faxed submissions accepted. Applications will not be returned.

Please bring submissions to Ms. Lisa Mims, Writing Program administrator at the Writing Programs Office in Downey House, Room 112.

Submission deadline: Tuesday, February 3 at 4 pm.
Workshop participants will be notified by email on Tuesday, February 10th.
