I like this. It seems to be half-mocking the song throughout, with all the garish nonsense, but then the shots of the weird bright structure against the night introduce a real sense of awe. (For me at least.) The awkwardness of the lead singer (who acts increasingly silly as it goes on but stays appropriately deadpan) and the exposing of the camera crew in the final pull-back (in the proud tradition of Holy Mountain) seem pretty clearly intentional. If you think that approach is annoyingly artificial, fine. I guess it is, a little. But it’s not a “mistake.”

i don’t think it was “well shot” at all. if your whole concept is krazy costumes at least give us a clear look at them.

the singer looks horribly uncomfortable with the get-up/ set-up in the first half of the video.

i actually thought this was fucking awesome. way to not be completely generic.you guys can spit all the hate you want at Ray (as well as this 'westco–>eclectic identity'), but its a pretty significant accomplishment to direct this video, and I thought it was thoroughly interesting and well shot.-anonymous hatin'!!!

Wait hang on. Someone did something that would be fundamentally uninteresting and irrelevant, but it happens that they also went to Wesleyan? In that case, it’s news! Put it on Wesleying! Make sure you put his class year next to his name though, to clue people in as to why they should care.

Me again, no, seriously, I went back and watched this again. This is crap.Like if you're just going to throw out the meaning of the song, don't have the singer pantomime (e.g. 4:40, "cut me open"). He looks frikkin' uncomfortable playing to a vision that is so fucking horribly contrived–like the entire westco–>eclectic identity.
