How to be Avant-Garde: the lecture

Ever wanted to be avant garde, but, umm, you just didn’t know how? Well, here’s your chance! I guess.

The first lecture in the Silipo Lecture Series is today, featuring Kenneth Goldsmith on “How to be Avant-Garde.” Here’s the CFA’s blurb:

Kenneth Goldsmith is a sculptor turned conceptual poet. He is also the creator of UbuWeb, a large web-based educational resource for avant-garde material available on the internet. Goldsmith founded Ubuweb in 1996 as an experimental destination and laboratory for various forms of poetry and art work.

    didn’t miss too much. he was entertaining, but he basically just read an article about what ubu is and how it got started. he did invite everyone for drinks after, though.
