Raptors are cool.

Aaron Kelley ’10 writes in to tell us:

this hawk (red-tailed?) was seen eating a squirrel outside of the science center the other day… i thought it was pretty fucking cool and wanted to share with everybody else.

As he said, pretty fucking cool:

Well done Aaron, and well done Nature.

Hey, awesome! This sounds like the same fearless squirrel-killer who hung around Wes in the winter four or five years ago.

I saw him ripping apart a pigeon the other day in a tree on High street in between Wyllys and the CFA. I only noticed because a huge clump of bloody feathers fell on the sidewalk about 3 feet in front of me. Looked up…there he was! I think he’s a red-tail.

Wow he lives at Wesleyan but he’s not a vegan. Amazing. Doesn’t he know he’s not respecting animal rights? And this blog drawing attention to this with such glee – it’s obvious you are all guilty of squirrelism!

This hawk has a reputation. I once saw him perched atop the chain-link fence around the tennis courts. He had impaled a squirrel on the twisted metal where the links come together at the top of the fence, and had ripped open his belly.I think I have some photos somewhere…
