WesGuitarFest Performances

WesGuitarFest 2009, organized by Wesleyan guitar teacher Cem Duruöz, kicks off tonight. Included are performances by Wesleyan guitar students and music majors, as well as renowned guitarists Francisco Ortiz and Fernando Espí. All performances are free.


“A Celebration of the Spanish Guitar” with Francisco Ortiz, “García’s Guitar”

Paris born guitarist Ortiz presents the music of his Andalucian roots while reading the poetry of Federico García Lorca.

Wesleyan Guitarists’ Showcase

Wesleyan guitar students present their recent work. The performers include music majors Gabriel Furtado ’10, Lu Yang ’10, and others, playing music from around the world.

Fernando Espí, “A Tárrega Celebrationgrano

Spanish guitarist Espí presents the music of the 19th century Spanish composer Francisco Tárrega in celebration of his life and work.

Young Concert Guitarists of Milford

Established in Milford, CT by Wesleyan Faculty Cem Duruöz, The Young Concert Guitarists program features players from ages 6 to 14. In their pre-concert performance for Fernando Espí, they will play solos and duets.
