From Aural Wes:
May Day has stood as a celebration of the struggle of people who are fed up with the exploitation, boredom, and social domination of our society to destroy existing power structures and make room for new ones…
With that in mind, the group of us involved with putting together the Emergence Infoshop and Zine Library (located at 190 High…come visit!) thought it would be cool to have a May Day celebration which embodies the fact that sabotaging capitalism and smashing the state can and indeed SHOULD be fun and exciting (unless you’re a moldy old fucking Trotskyite…isn’t there a plenary meeting you’re missing?)we’re throwing the MAY DAY MUSIC AND ART FESTIVAL.
FESTIVAL? FUCK YEAH, FESTIVAL! and there will be ART: on display from the Public Art Project, as well as a miniature “nomad infoshop” where there will be sitting space and the finest selection of self-published and radical literature for your perusal and… NYC stripped-down noise punx MICHAEL JORDAN and BROCCOLI DESTROYER, and GROCERY THIEF along with Bard’s garage punx BABY SQUAD, low-budget-art-crunk from NINJASONIK and a set from electro-punk paragons JAPANTHER.
Date: Friday, May 1
Time: 8 pm
Place: Eclectic
