That’s an interesting question: which made more money, the original movie with the late Zero Mostel as Max Bialystock (sp) or, the Broadway show? The first will always have a cult following. However, I was referring to the subsequent movie musical which featured Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick reprising their Tony Award winning roles. Though it followed the show faithfully, it went pretty much straight to dvd. Same thing happened, as I recall, to “Chorus Line: The Movie”.

johnwesley: The Producers was originally conceived as a movie. What was interesting was that it was more successful as a musical, probably because of the different demographics of the two audiences.

Let’s hope “The Heights” suffers a better fate than “The Producers” did once it hits the screen. Seriously, I’d love nothing better than a “triple threat” Wes alum. :D

Now this is an alum story that gives me Wes pride… (cough cough not Michael Bay)

Who else can’t wait for the In The Heights movie?
