Movement and Mourning Workshop with Eiko Otake

3029__330__

“Although the sources of our grief may be different, as humans we all share the experience of losing someone close to us.  This movement workshop and discussion will explore how this basic human experience connects all of us.  Movement is entirely noncompetitive and optional, so if you’d like to come and just discuss these issues, we’d love to have you.  If you desire, bring a memory of something or someone you have lost to share.”

Date:
Oct. 11 – Oct. 11
Time:        4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Place: Freeman Center for East Asian Studies (Corner of Mount Vernon and Washington Terrace)
As someone who feels pretty cynical about the university’s bureaucratic attempts to grapple with grief as evidenced by my inbox, its really refreshing and surprising to see something that seems tender and inviting and humanistic being attempted.
