I’m surprised that at such a prestigious and liberal school full of smart people, there are people so ignorant of the situation in Israel and so fully engrossed in unfounded and disgusting rhetoric that they actually believe what they are writing here. It doesn’t make sense to me.

  3. understands "both" sides

On a non-political note, I’d like to point out the inherent fault in logic in #9 and #19’s posts. Just because someone is Israeli and/or Jewish does not make their anti-Israel arguments correct.

See, as more fuel for blarguments: Noam Chomsky.

Why do I feel that the anti-Israel comments on here are fifteen times more polemical than things I have heard Israelis say first-hand about the Palestinians, and vice-versa?

I think that attempting to intimidate a group in this regard borders on an infraction of liberty. At least, should you be willing to speak about these issues, this would be good. Otherwise, this is fighting for the sake of fighting, not approved by my religious tradition and I doubt any other.

Outright flames in this manner have made me afraid to go asleep at night and voice anything concerning Israel in public.

i appreciate your efforts in bringing a more diverse campus debate on such issues, but perhaps you should redefine your groups interests and motives. are you seriously planning to market your group as pro-israel and pro two-state solution group? what about others who has opinions on this but totally against such opinions? we indeed need more campus debate on such issues, but moreover, you need to reevaluate yourself on how much you’re willing to listen to others if you’re only focusing on promoting your own opinions.

When I first saw this it made me sick. But that overwhelming response is in favor of the Palestinians and against Israeli occupation, murder and ethnic cleansing gives me hope yet.

I think this group has either two options; never meet, or enact Israel’s policies against Muslims on campus. If the members of this group don’t feel comfortable stealing the rooms of Muslim students, cutting off their access to food, electricity and water, bombing them repeatedly, torturing them, denying them access to classes, facilities and jobs and generally disrespecting them in every way, then they should not advocate for Israel’s right to exist.

this has got to be the funniest thing I’ve read all day. blatant media biases? the israel issue is one of the most one-sided covered stories of any in american media. just refer to how we leap to israel’s defense whenever the rest of the world admonishes them for unjust use of force and economic strangling (see: the situation in gaza).

no state has a “right to exist.” theres a good chance America won’t exist as such after a few more decades, let alone Israel.

first thought: wow, you support a brutal occupation and what could almost certainly be termed a regime of ethnic cleansing for what is, ideological obfuscations aside, a state explicitly based on ethnic-racial hierarchy. please go fuck yourself and die. i have absolutely no respect for anyone who joins and supports this group; you cannot argue with me. fucking deal.

    @13
A one state solution would give Palestinians a voice in the political process and force Israelis to share the economic growth they have created on the backs of oppressed Palestinians.

It would also bring an end to Israel’s status as a Jewish majority society, forcing the end to discriminatory policies that favor its Jewish population.

That Jewish people can move to Israel from around the world, but Palestinians kicked out of their homes not too long ago cannot, is a gross injustice that only a one state solution can rectify.

It would even make the settlers happy.

are you kidding me? a one state solution would continue the oppression of the palestinians. are you stupid? the only real and fair solution is a two-state solution to ensure the equality of both israelis and palestinians, with population exchanges.

Two state solution? Seriously? By that you mean apartheid, right? The only real solution is one democratic state. The two state solution would legitimize the permanent displacement of Palestinians removed or prevented from returning to their homes during the Great Catastrophe.

maybe you should consider the possibility that you might be wrong, then. not endorse it, but at least consider it.

i’m surprised that at such a prestigious and liberal school full of smart people, there is a group advocating on behalf of a state that has occupied territories for over 40 years and oppressed those they occupy, committed numerous war crimes, and violated international law several times. it doesn’t make sense to me.

ughhh good lord. my blood pressure rose as soon as I saw that there were 2 comments on this event. I restrained myself from commenting on any of the anti-Israel events; can’t we just leave each other alone? (or at least debate in a more constructive way that leaving single-sentence anonymous jabs on a school blog?)

By calling out blatant media biases, do you mean that you’re going to talk about how incredibly biased all the media is towards the pro-israel movement?
