Republican incumbent Sebastian Giuliano won today’s mayoral election against Democrat newcomer Dan Drew. The breakdown was 4379 votes for Giuliano, 3896 votes for Drew and 134 votes for Ruthanne Johnson, who was not affiliated with a party.
Drew graciously congratulated the mayor:
“When I started this campaign, I was a complete unknown, so I’m really proud how far we’ve come. Obviously I would have hoped for a different result, but I just want to congratulate Mayor Giuliano in his victory, and I’ll stay involved because it’s important we keep working on behalf of the community.”
Giuliano is looking forward to Middletown’s “serious challenges”:
“We’re facing some serious challenges, and the time has come to face those challenges squarely, honestly and make the right decisions as to how we will overcome them,” said Giuliano.

giuliano doesn’t treat us like shit. he ignores us, which is fine. we’re not a substantial part of middletown and i don’t care if the mayor drags his ass up here to suck our dick. we get food, we get electricity, we get plumbing, so i really don’t think we have anything to complain about re: middletown.
anyway, why should i vote here? i vote in my home town, where i understand politics, and where i intend to live my life. all the slimy Democrats on campus got obsessed with their little democracy role playing game and got confused.
this sucks if giuliano is bad for middletown, but that’s for the real people to decide. drew seemed like a bastard as near as i could tell.

Turnout on campus was disgraceful. 700+ Wes students registered to vote, but practically nobody actually voted. And we’re surprised when Mayor Giuliano treats us like shit — well maybe we should give a fuck.
