Gabriel Teodros and Wordsmith & The Temps

Come To Buddhist House for a night of awesome Hip-Hop with Seattle emcee Gabriel Teodros and Wesleyan’s Wordsmith and The Temps!

Gabriel Teodros is an intimate storyteller with an electrifying stage presence; smart, soulful, street-raised with roots in the Horn of Africa. As an emcee who brings his deep social consciousness to the masses with an uncompromising commitment to the true craft of hip-hop, Gabriel and his label-mates Blue Scholars and Common Market exemplify Seattle hip-hop. While tackling issues of colonialism, misogyny, poverty and racism, Gabriel Teodros still manages to find the beautiful in life and and share it whenever he touches the stage.

WordSmith and The Temps are back for their last show at Wesleyan this semester. If you caught them at Music House in October, or at Psi U in November, you know the deal by now. Up-and-coming emcee WordSmith (Josh Smith ’11) gets the crowd moving, waxing poetic over the music of the ever-dynamic Temps. This big band creates soulful hip-hop with hard-hitting horns, thick bass lines, and an intense yet fun-loving vibe that brings just as much heat at a house party as it does on a big stage. Singing, chanting and dancing are fully encouraged during their set. Thug posturing and attempting to look cool are not.

This was the only night the artist could do, and unfortunately most of the other events weren’t scheduled when I was putting it together :-(

This looks like such a great event. Why was it scheduled for such a busy night???!!! It’s up against Studio 54 and an unusually large number of other parties/events.
