Well he’s only a pretentious ass because he prefaced the whole post by saying he got the track from a member of a Noted Independent Rock Band. Other than that I guess we’re supposed to laugh at the fact that the dude from Smashmouth can’t sing. Woooooaaaaah.

Context as far as I can surmise: Smash Mouth releases an isolated vocal track to individuals in the music industry in the hopes that people will take it and add music and remix it to make it listenable. Other artists do this from time to time, and sometimes it proves successful. In this case it merely proves Smash Mouth’s lead singer’s embarrassing inability to sing. I suppose that makes it comical to listen to? That’s my take on it, at least.
