Auditions for Wesleyan Ensemble Singers

image001The Wesleyan Music Department is pleased to announce auditions for the Wesleyan Ensemble Singers (MUSC 435-01), a new choral ensemble of select singers dedicated to the performance of challenging choral works written since the 19th Century, as well as choral music accompanied by orchestra. Directed by Angel Gil-Ordóñez and assistant-conducted by Hansel Tan ’10, this spring semester, the ensemble will work towards a performance with the Wesleyan University Orchestra of Mozart‘s Requiem with soloists drawn from the group, as well as a repertoire of works written by some of the most innovative composers in the field today such as Einojuhani Rautavaara, Eric Whitacre, Alberto Grau, R. Murray Schaefer, and Javier Busto. The ensemble rehearses on Mondays and Wednesdays, 4.30pm – 6.30pm. For the audition, please prepare a short classical song. There will be range-testing, and you will be asked to sight-read.
