Here, we call the shots

Wesleyan U-CT by Steadyjohn.

According to a recent list from The Huffington Post, Wesleyan ranks as one of the “Top Non-Traditional Schools.”  A description of schools that made the list:

Scattered across the country are colleges where an actual education is paramount, and obtaining that education is often a rigorous and inventive process. We call them “non-traditional colleges,” and they’re places where students call the shots.

And Wes, specifically:

The breadth of Wesleyan’s curriculum is so vast that students are sometimes compelled to triple-major. Independent study is highly encouraged, as is the commitment to what the school calls “Essential Capabilities.” They range from writing to ethical reasoning to effective citizenship. There are no required courses.

P.S. Curious about the photograph, I looked into Steadyjohn’s Flickr stream.  He’s been around all of campus but…this?  Calendar shot?  Check.  Obstructed view?  Check.  Why not the Hill?

    people who dont know wesleyan will get such a different impression of the place in that picture than people that do. it looks like some part of a beautiful library or building or something. not marketed towards wes community.
