Slam Poetry Team General Interest Meeting

Good People of All Shapes and Sizes,

I’m writing to let you know that you no longer have to close your blinds and hide under the covers every time you blow the dust off that old Whitman book you keep disguised behind your “Almanac of Socially Acceptable Hobbies.” That’s right. No longer will you cower in shame in Olin every time you cry a little too obviously watching Ken Arkind or get a little too inspired while watching Saul Williams. Poets, the time has come to step out of the shadows and into . . . Usdan!

This Sunday we’ll be holding a general meeting for anyone interested in being part of the inaugural Wesleyan University Slam Poetry Team, whether they’ve never written a poem in their life or are international slam champions. So, anyone who has any interest, whether it’s in being on the team or helping to decide what poets we bring to campus as features for our soon-to-be-monthly slam events, should stop by Writers Bloc this Sunday in Usdan Room 110, which is on the main floor near the quick-mart version of upstairs from 4 – 5:30 (meeting will take place at end of Bloc) to hear what’s up and put their names down in the Book of Life.

Please please please pass this on to the kid at the end of your hall who you kinda like and have been waiting for the right event to come up so you can talk to them—and then make sure you both send it to all of your friends. Feel free to get in touch with us if you’ve got any questions or ideas, and, as always, keep on rocking in the free world.
