Come hear playwright Arthur Kopit read at Russell House this week as part of the Writing At Wesleyan series. The event is sponsored by the English Department, Writing Programs, the Theater Department, and the American Studies Program.
One of America’s most distinguished playwrights, Arthur Kopit is the author of such classics as Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mama’s Hung You in the Closet and I’m Feelin’ So Sad (1963), Indians (1969), Wings (1978), and the musical Nine (1982), and the winner of numerous drama awards and three “best play” Tony nominations. His plays have inspired major films: Robert Altman’s Buffalo Bill and the Indians (1976), starring Paul Newman, and Nine (2009)–nominated for four Oscars–featuring Daniel Day-Lewis, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench, and Sophia Loren.
